2/26/2024 0 Comments Funny gta v wasted memeShe becomes the mouthpiece for Leave the World Behind’s lingering questions of the Sandfords’ possible racial biases, as if they (and the POV of white fragility they accompany) weren’t already obvious. Myha’la’s performance is certainly precise – she does an impeccable job when the character’s own dramatic layers are eventually revealed – but Esmail’s writing betrays her on occasion. As Ruth, a young, Black, Gen Z adult, she’s painted with the boisterous hues of someone always on the attack, and looking for a reason to put her flimsy theories into practice. Unfortunately, Myha’la is saddled with an awkward responsibility. is intimidating in one moment and gentle in the next, but Ali ensures that the difference between these two modes is razor thin. with an impeccable sense of duality, playing not only a man with hidden layers (which we see unearthed as the camera captures details the Sandfords don’t initially see), but also playing the object of Amanda’s fears. As Clay, Hawke tries to politely diffuse this strange situation, tip-toeing his way through careful de-escalation without offending his apparent hosts, but Roberts remains on edge as Amanda, a woman far less trusting and welcoming than her husband. That is, until night falls, and the white family is met with a pair of sharply dressed Black strangers – George “G.H.” Scott (Mahershala Ali) and his adult daughter Ruth (Myha’la) – who arrive at the door claiming to be the house’s owners, trying to talk their way inside with a story of a dangerous citywide blackout in NYC.Īn initial premise not too dissimilar from the first act of Barbarian – in which two strangers end up booking the same Airbnb – sets up character-centric intrigue through fine-tuned performances from masters of their craft. As Clay, Amanda, their teenage son Archie (Charlie Evans), and their younger daughter Rose (Farrah Mackenzie) relax on their first day at a fancy homestay, an apparent internet, phone, and cable outage prevents Rose from watching the finale of the ’90s sitcom Friends – her new TV obsession, and a surprisingly big part of Leave the World Behind’s plot and even its worldview – though the family thinks little of it, and even considers the inadvertent isolation a blessing. It's a wry and appropriately cheesy introduction to a film that deftly twists its screws, at least initially. The easygoing Clay is left with no option, especially when the sardonic, uptight Amanda practically states her reason for wanting to escape the city directly to the camera, as it crash-zooms in on her: “I fucking hate people.” A fairly well-off, middle-aged father of two, he wakes up to find that his wife, Amanda (Julia Roberts), has not only booked the whole family a weekend getaway on Long Island, but has packed their bags as well. We’re thrown into the plot just as suddenly as New Yorker Clay Sandford (Ethan Hawke) is. However, its attempts to weave meaningful reflections on modern America end up so flimsy and half-baked that the whole thing simply crumbles by the closing credits, with one of the most head-scratching final scenes and needle drops in recent memory. Robot creator Sam Esmail, the film traverses both personal and political paranoia in its tale of a family vacation gone awry. Led by a stellar ensemble and written and directed by Mr. Based on Rumaan Alam’s 2020 book of the same name, Leave the World Behind zig-zags in a number of intriguing directions but ends up unable to bear the weight of its own lofty ideas.

2/26/2024 0 Comments Evolution of rap musicIts prevalence among high school students is strong because of this. For example, Harvard Politic s says that “ rappers such as Macklemore have hits about formerly taboo subjects like homosexuality.” Although songs do not always follow the same theme of the shared gangster life, and instead more of an individual artist’s journey, they are still well thought out and crafted, relating to a larger audience. Freshman Roger Bowman says that rap music “can help kids have something to relate to or an escape and it can also help with their confidence.” Rap music certainly never censors the truth, and it has continued to address social issues as they have become more prevalent recently. Although the genre sometimes has a bad reputation due to its occasional vulgar or explicit language, rap music carries with it themes that deeply relate with its listeners and highlights important issues that other genres might not even cover. Rap music in its earliest forms was known for its honesty, though this can still remain in current rap music. Collaborations between famous rappers are often very popular and help gain media attention. This also allows for more features by other artists in the industry. Sophomore Sarah Dutra states,“It is easier to become successful in the rap industry today because more people can create and publish their own music.” According to Complex, this also means that “ the traditional timeline of turning an album in weeks or months in advance no longer applies, and artists can indulge their perfectionist (or procrastinator) tendencies by working up until the last possible moment.” Because of this, music is more perfectly crafted and thought out, which may question the sincerity of the artist and songs. As previously stated, streaming has allowed for rap music to gain even more popularity and for artists to express their styles more freely, as well as reach larger audiences. Senior Avery Knirk described recent rappers’ fashion as “ street wear, very on trend, and hypebeast.” Along with fashion, rappers are different today because they have been able to take inspiration from rappers before them and from other genres, such as modern pop and rock. Today, the fashion of rappers is more focused on high quality name brands, sometimes flaunting riches and wealth. This transition directly connects to the change in style of rappers over time. Rappers came to be tastemakers, fashion designers and A-listers.” For example, according to Harvard Politics, “ Ramirez pinpoints the origins of this transition to the release of Kanye West’s 2004 debut album, ‘The College Dropout.’ Rather than focusing on drug dealing or violence or living on the streets, the album addressed religion, West’s pursuit of music, and as he says on the track ‘Breathe In Breathe Out,’ his desire to ‘say something significant.’” Many also associate Kanye West with this big change, with Redbull saying he “ paved the way for rappers who didn’t have stories coloured by socioeconomic struggles or violence. Rap now covers many more topics and has evolved to include more stories, instead of just lyrical narratives about gangster life. Instead of solely trying to attract the attention of a record label, upcoming rappers can gain listeners from other music platforms such as Soundcloud. Over time, rap music has become more popular and accepted across bigger populations. Rap music was one of the first platforms where topics of violence, racism, and minority hardship were able to receive recognition. West Coast and songs highlighted childhood struggles in the area and the conditions that many rappers grew up in. As it grew, rap culture was also focused on feuds like the East Coast vs. Even before this, DailyTargum states that, ” The history of rap started in New York City in the 1970s, when DJs started isolating the percussion breaks of soul and disco songs and extended them via looping.” Artists like the Grandmaster Flash and others created DJ beats, interacting with and engaging crowds. Early rappers in the 80s and 90s such as Tupac Shakir and Biggie Smalls rapped about thug life and controversial topics sometimes considered to be rebellious at the time. What began as music to narrate the hardships and culture of “ghetto life” has become one of the biggest and most overpowering genres in the music industry today. 2/26/2024 0 Comments Us travel docs helplineTB Champions in the Corporate and Media Sectors Recognized at Award Ceremony in Hyderabad.Consulate in Hyderabad Opens for Business in Nanakramguda VP-26 Concludes Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Training with India.Joel Sathiaraj of IIT Madras wins Scrabble Tournament held at American Center Chennai.Development Finance Corporation (DFC) announces its full slate of investments in India American Center Chennai to celebrate Halloween.Consul General Melinda Pavek’s Remarks at the Inaugural Ceremony of the Indo-Pacific Conclave.Ambassador Eric Garcetti’s 6/28 Foreign Policy Speech.Ambassador Eric Garcetti’s remarks on the occasion of the United States National Day.Statement by Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry on the G20 Outcome.USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator for Asia Anjali Kaur Visits India.“NISAR is a great example of the strong U.S.-India partnership”– Bill Nelson.President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Government in India Celebrates World AIDS Day and the 20th anniversary of the U.S. REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE UNITED STATES, INDIA, AND TAIWAN COLLABORATE ON CYBERSECURITY UNDER THE GLOBAL COOPERATION AND TRAINING FRAMEWORK.embassy or consulate for detailed information on what services are currently available as well as eligibility information and instructions on applying for a visa without an interview. Three decades later, Ozzy recorded another version of the song, this time with his daughter, Kelly Osbourne as a duet. Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne version "Changes" "Changes" was ranked the 12th best Black Sabbath song by Rock - Das Gesamtwerk der größten Rock-Acts im Check. The band first performed the song live in 1973. To alleviate concerns about the band departing their well-known heavy sound, Osbourne promised in a 1972 interview "We're certainly not going to get any less heavy, we will probably do 'Changes' on stage with a Mellotron, but we'll never take strings on stage with us or anything like that." The ballad is generally an outlier in the band’s discography as it does not feature guitar or drums. Instead, Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi used a Mellotron to create the sound of an orchestra. Notably, "Changes" was not recorded with a real string ensemble. It was inspired mainly by drummer Bill Ward's breakup with his first wife. Quite different from Sabbath's previous work, the song was described as a "forlornly pretty" ballad by critic Barney Hoskyns. The lyrics were by bassist Geezer Butler, and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne has referred to the song as "heartbreaking". The song's piano melody was composed by guitarist Tony Iommi, who was experimenting with the instrument in the studio. Learn more at Patreon." Changes" is a ballad by Black Sabbath. This is Cytus α (or Cytus Alpha) and it’s here to dominate your console. But now their first love, the biggest juggernaut of them all, lumbers onto the Switch, and brings with it the largest catalog so far. At the forefront of it all is Rayark Games, who has already made a massive splash with the release of DEEMO and VOEZ on the Switch, bringing definitive editions of their titles to eager Switch musicians. Once all is said and done, a player has a game on their phones with a staggering library of songs and a burning desire to get those robotic hand replacements from Ghost in the Shell. But the games continue on mobile devices, acting as equal parts musical immersion and addictive microtransactions, resulting in games that were free to get and gleefully pull in hundreds of dollars as more and more songs become released. I’ve seen people bring special gloves in to play games like Pop N’ Music, Beatmania, and the newer generation of dance/touch games that were surviving in Japanese arcades the last time I visited. There’s been this undercurrent of gamers, especially in Asia, who live and breathe the concept of moving in time to the music in order to maximize scoring and accuracy. Rhythm games have evolved to a point that cannot be comprehended easily by people who thought things hit their peak in the Guitar Hero era. 2/26/2024 0 Comments Hanamaru kindergarten charactersThese characters are simply enjoying the innocence of childhood while they still can in various activites and situation. 'Stranger Things' star Priah Ferguson talked to Seventeen about her role in season 4 of the Netflix series and dished on what she plans to do in the future. The video received such an overwhelmingly positive response, the non-profit asked her to become the official Spokeskid for their Atlanta chapter. In 2015, she was chosen to do a video for United Way of Greater Atlanta. She has also appeared on VH1 "Daytime Divas," and the PBS series "Mercy Street," along with leading and supporting roles for several award-winning short films and commercials. Within a year of signing to a notable Atlanta-based agency, she landed a role on the critically acclaimed FX series "Atlanta," created by Donald Glover. Program directors from various camps and workshops encouraged her parents to seek agency representation, as she expressed her desire to become a professional actress. Priah went on to say that she thinks Erica’s family encouraged her to find her purpose, which allowed her to blossom into the vivid personality we’ve grown to love on the Netflix series. Introduced to performing arts at the age of 5, she immediately loved theatre where her natural timing and profound delivery in both comedic and theatrical roles was rare. Her parents, also artistic, recognized her outgoing and imaginative spirit, along with her passion for dance. Her old-soul and quick-wit charm always had people in stitches. She is best known for her breakout role as Erica Sinclair on season 2 of Stranger Things. I'm happy I made the decision to come back home.Priah Nicole Ferguson was born in Atlanta, Georgia and is the eldest of two girls. Atlanta's one of those places too, but it's also a place where you can just duck off and not see anybody for a week, or I can leave my apartment and spend a week with my mom. "Having the ability to work in a calm way where I'm not worried about the hustle and bustle of things. “Things didn't really start taking off for me until I came back home," Jones says. Priah Ferguson is an American actress primarily known for her portrayal of Erica Sinclair in the Netflix series Stranger Things. Her first break came when she co-starred in award winning FX show Atlanta created by Donald Glover. She performed in short local plays, then shortly after, she was signed to an Atlanta based talent agency called People Store. She started her acting career at the age of four. Upon returning to Atlanta, Jones wrote and shot Glitter Ain’t Gold, before briefly traveling to LA to direct an episode of Issa Rae’s upcoming HBO series Rap Sh*t. Bio: Priah Ferguson is an American actress born in Atlanta, Georgia. “It just matters what you're doing and if you're moving with a purpose.” I think people feel like they have to be in New York or LA for things to pop off, but it really doesn't matter where you are," says Jones. “I want to show people that it’s okay to be here in the city. Jones studied film at Howard University and New York University before moving back to Atlanta in 2021, after years of living away and making films throughout that time. It’s become this Hollywood backdrop, but there aren't many stories about Atlanta's culture or history or the regular people living here within the city and outside of it.” That's really important to me, especially when it comes to Atlanta itself. "That's something that the masses wouldn't normally think about when it comes to a Black community, so I wanted to shed light on that with this film and with the feature. “Atlanta is so diverse in terms of Blackness," says Glitter Ain't Gold creator Christian Nolan Jones. The Curse of Bridge Hollow stars Priah Ferguson (Stranger Things), Marlon Wayans (A Haunted House), singer and actor Kelly Rowland (Black Is King), Rob Riggle (The War with Grandpa), John Michael Higgins (Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie) and Lauren Lapkus (Orange Is the New Black). Similar to the sentiment behind the saying “Black people aren’t a monolith,” it’s important to acknowledge that Black people from Atlanta aren’t a monolith either. Over the last several years, we’ve seen different versions of Atlanta make their way to television and film screens, like 2006's ATL and Donald Glover's FX series Atlanta, but we haven’t seen it all. Priah had joined the cast in season two as Erica Sinclair - the acerbic icecream loving little sister of Lucas. 2/25/2024 0 Comments Led projector door lightsValid for online purchases at or at an authorized MINI Dealership.
